If you’ve read any of my previous posts or follow me on Instagram, you’ll know how much I OBSESS about MOD Fitness!  Their barre classes always kick my butt and the staff is always so friendly and easy to talk to.  They’ve now added a new class to the schedule that is sure to get your heart rate up and shirt sweaty.  MOD Kick is a choreographed kickboxing class that integrates barre movements and postures throughout.

Now, when I said “choreographed,” you may have gotten a bit flustered and want to steer clear because maybe you’re not the most coordinated person.  BUT DO NOT FRET!  Yes, the class is based on choreographed movements that you repeat in order to keep with the beat of the music, but it’s not as daunting as it seems.

Often, we focus on working all the muscles below our neck while exercising but we forget the most important muscle of all… our brain!  No we aren’t doing math or any in-depth thinking but a choreographed class helps to keep you engaged and really paying attention to whats going on the whole time.  Think of it as a two for one.

About the class itself, I had an absolute BLAST and of course I was super sweaty by the end of it.  I don’t consider myself the most coordinated person, but I was able to keep up with the choreography (most of the time) and Hollie was always doing it with us.  So if I ever got lost she would be right there to help me get back in the groove immediately.

I honestly had no idea going into the class what to expect because barre/kickboxing has never really been done before, but after leaving I was hooked!  We were literally hopping up and down about 90% of the time.  So you are getting your cardio fix in while also integrating punches and kicks in different forms to reap the benefits of those types of classes.  Between each “round” Hollie would take us to the barre to work either thighs, glutes, or calves so we had the added toning workout on top of kickboxing!

I encourage everyone to try it out and maybe even bring a friend who is less coordinated than you so you’re never the worst one there!  (just a joke, don’t be that friend).
