What: Drop-in recovery center that provides the best tools for recovery from professionals to everyday athletes
Where: LoHi – Denver, CO
Who: Chris Contini

Ambiance. Denver Sports Recovery is way more than just a Physical Therapy (PT) center. The building is home to all sorts of local therapists and doctors who rent parts of the space out making it a one-stop-shop for those who need more than just a single treatment.

What do they offered? More like what don’t they offer! Since they rent out space to so multiple companies, there is a huge range of treatments you can get including: Acupuncture, Fascial Stretch Therapy, Chiropractic sessions, Joint Injury Treatment, Massage Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Physical Therapy, Recovery Specialists, Sports Nutrition and LOKTE Method.

A drop-in rate will grant you access to anything on the floor including soft tissue therapy, STIM, recovery boots, and hot/cold tubs. If you want to get one of the treatments listed above, you’ll just need to call in and schedule an appointment! The best part about this is that if you’re wanting to use any of the equipment on the floor as well as get a chiropractic session, you can do it all in the same building!

What makes them unique? Unlike most PT offices, Denver Sports Recovery offers PT treatments along side treatments that you would find in any D1 (Division 1) sports school. That includes STIM, recovery boots, and the hot/cold tubs as opposed to just soft tissue and band work.

Something else that puts DSR on the top of the list is their wide range of clients. Whether you’re an avid workout-er and need some TLC or play for the Denver Broncos, you’ll see both and everything in-between when you visit. That’s right, some of their most popular clients play for the Denver Broncos.

Lastly, they offer Cryotherapy, Hyperbaric chamber, and Infrared Sauna sessions. Cryotherapy is a form of therapy that uses cold temperatures to treat tissue damage. Hyperbaric therapy involves breathing in pure oxygen while lying down in a pressurized tube that is used to treat infections, bubbles of air in your blood vessels and wounds that have trouble healing. Infrared Saunas use full spectrum infrared technology to bring benefits such as detoxification, anti-aging & skin purification, pain relief, muscle relaxation, improved circulation, and weight loss.

Why recovery is important. Something that most people don’t realize is that recovery is just as important as the workout itself. Your body cannot constantly run, it needs downtime for the muscles and joints to recover and build up strength and endurance for the next go-around. When you build strength, you’re breaking down the muscle in order for it to rebuild stronger the next time. How is your body going to recovery if you don’t give it the time it needs? Not only that, but serious injuries stem from constant muscle and joint usage such as torn ligaments, knee pain, and the most common are back injuries.

Personally, I give myself one day a week to take a chill pill and do something beneficial to my body like a hot bath, zen yoga, or even spending 20 minutes stretching in front of my TV.

What is so great about DSR is that they are all specialists in what they do and want to help you with injury prevention and recovery. It’s a place where you don’t even have to think about what you need to do to help recover because they make the list for you and all you have to do is follow it!
