Fresh Friday AustinTheir goal is to expose Austinites to the abundance of fitness opportunities available to them and to support our growing fitness industry. This is a network of fitness providers who give a percentage of their Friday business to clients who have never used their service or gym before. Ultimately, the goal is to make “Austin the Fittest City in the USA” and to urge you to try something Fresh and new.

You can sign up for one free class per facility once you sign up on the site. The idea is to get Austinites to try new classes and gyms and help our city become the fittest in America. Choose from more than 40 classes, from dance to boot camp, yoga to spinning. Although most classes are for adults, there are a few classes for kids.

Why join FRESH Friday?  With FRESH Friday you won’t have hunt for these wonderful classes.  They post the classes and times for the available Friday classes online.  All you have to do is register, show up and find to new ways of getting fit.

FOGO Crossfit. Constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movement.  Capoeira is a martial art of Afro-Brazilian origin. It is distinguished by its incorporation of acrobatic and dance movements as well as the integration of music into practice. A capoeira match or “jogo” takes place within a circle of players called a “roda.” As members of the roda sing and play instruments, two players, called “capoeiristas,” enter and begin to spar. In the jogo, typically, there is as much emphasis on the style and expressiveness of the players as on their martial prowess. The majority of strikes involve the feet and blows are evaded rather than blocked. The result is a flowing, rhythmic and dynamic martial art.

Salsa. This class provides the foundation to learn this fun and energetic dance. You will learn the basic steps of Salsa (on the 1), basic turns, and how to move your body to the rhythms and beats of Latin music. This class also teaches the basics in Merengue, Cha Cha, Bachata, and Cumbia. No experience for this class needed, just the willingness to learn and have a good time!
