Is it just me, or does it feel like 2016 flew by? With the holiday season in full effect, it’s hard to stay away from all those pumpkin flavored lattes and boozy parties with your distant relatives. I also won’t be the first to admit that it is SO HARD to stick to a diet this time of year. Why is that? Because the holiday’s are filled with beautiful goodness things like pumpkin pie, cream puffs, and alcohol. Lots of it.
I’ve come up with 3 Healthy Holiday Cocktails using Juice Society juices to help cut some of those unwanted calories!
Snap, Bubble, Pop!
This first drink is like an even more healthified version of a Mimosa. Like with any mimosa, there really is no right or wrong ratio of alcohol to juice. I like mine a little more bubbly, so I usually fill a champagne glass up with 3/4 champagne and 1/4 Juice.
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of Zest Juice Society Juice
- 1 bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne
- 1 Lime
Tools:
- Zester
- Champagne Flute
Step-by-Step:
- Pour champagne into glass 3/4 of the way full
- Top off with a few splashes of Zest Juice Society Juice
- Directly over the glass, zest a small amount of lime to enhance flavor and make it look pretty
Tip: Make sure both the alcohol and juice are chilled to achieve maximum flavor and maximum fizziness
Extras: To turn this simple cocktail into a party punch. The ratio of bottle of champagne to bottle of juice is 1:1. For a boozier party, add in 1/4 cup of vodka to your 1:1 ratio. Cut limes into slices and freeze for a few hours (or overnight) to keep it cool without watering it down!
Hippie Hot Toddie
Try this drink on those cold Texas nights when all you want to do is curl up by a fire and watch a movie. This requires the most steps, but ultimately, is still easy enough for even the less skilled to handle. Since the Juice already has the flavors of fall, instead of steeping, all you’ll need to do is heat the juice up!
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of Fall collection Juice Society juice
- 1 bottle of Four Roses Bourbon
- Nutmeg (whole or ground)
- Cloves (whole or ground)
- Ground Cinnamon
- 1 Orange
Tools:
- Zester
- Pairing knife
- Shot glass to measure
- Small pot
- Old Fashioned Glass
Step-by-Step:
- Warm juice over low to medium heat on stove using small pot until it starts to steam
- While juice is warming, pour 2 oz of bourbon into glass
- Top off cup with warmed juice
- Zest a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon over glass
- Add 3-4 cloves
- Using a pairing knife, peel large strip of just the orange skin and add to side of drink
Tip: If you don’t want to dirty a pot, the Juice Society juices come in a glass which you can take the lid off and place in the microwave for 20 seconds at a time until it’s at a desired temperature.
Creamy Cashew Russian
Unlike your usual White Russian which has diary and coffee, this one is made with Juice Society’s Spiced Cashew which is dairy free and vegan! Dare I say, it may be the new Egg Nog?
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of Juice Society’s Spiced Cashew Juice
- 1 bottle of Tito’s Handmade Vodka
- Ground Cinnamon
- Nutmeg (ground or whole)
- Cloves (optional)
Tools:
- Zester
- Cocktail Shaker
- Shot glass to measure
- Old Fashioned Glass
Step-by-Step:
- Measure 1.5 oz of Tito’s Vodka and pour into Cocktail Shaker
- Measure 1 cup Juice Society Spiced Cashew Juice and add to shaker
- Fill shaker with ice, close lid firmly, shake for 5-7 seconds
- Fill Old Fashioned Glass with Ice (or one large ice-cube) and pour cocktail into glass
- Zest nutmeg and cinnamon to enhance flavor
- Add 3-4 cloves
- Enjoy!
Tip: If you don’t like vodka, or want something a little sweeter trade it out for Rum or Kahlúa for that kick of coffee flavor!
Instead of wasted calories on artificial sweeteners and syrups to create your cocktails, opt for a healthier take and not only will you feel way less guilty, but you might even wake up with NO hangover!
There are so many ways to enjoy this holiday season while sticking to a healthy diet. Try out one (or all) of these healthy holiday cocktails at your next get-together and keep the people talking until next years.
As a reminder, please drink responsibly and NEVER drink and drive.
