As I walked up to the gated entrance of Sanctuary, the archway was covered with greenery and made me feel like I was entering an enchanted garden. Although it was located right behind a major road (S. Lamar), I could hear nothing but the sound of trees bustling and wind chimes clinging. Instantly I felt relaxed.
The house that Sanctuary is located in almost reminds me of walking up to a tree house. Two stories tall with vines crawling up the sides like it had been their for centuries (and it just might have been). The yoga room had a calmness about it and giant floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that opened to the outside.
I wouldn’t consider myself a “yogi” but I do know a great studio when I come across one and this my friends is that.
The instructor was calm, welcoming, and her practice was challenging yet restorative all at once. She gave everyone the option to challenge themselves depending on their experience as well as guiding us through the movements to move as one though the hour-long vinyasa.
Sanctuary by far has been one of the coolest and best overall experiences I’ve had at a yoga studio. The vibes are what (in my opinion) I think of when I think imagine yoga and it makes you feel welcomed no matter what level you are at in your practice. I mean, it should be that way right? It is an “all levels vinyasa” after all!
