CBD has been a hot topic in the media lately due to its holistic benefits on the body. But so many people don’t even know what CBD is, where it comes from, or what these benefits are!
First, I’m going to dip my toes in the shallow end of WHAT CBD is and where it comes from then go a little deeper into the benefits of taking it, and why I personally take it (almost) everyday.
Lastly, before diving in, I want to point out that I am no expert on the subject nor does this mean I am suggesting everyone and anyone add CBD to their lives! It’s something I’ve personally found to be a great addition to my life and am here to educate where I can.
What is CBD?
CBD is just one of the many compounds found in cannabis plants. If you break the plant down, one of the other major compounds found in marijuana is THC (the psychoactive part of the plant) and the other is called cannabidiol (CBD) which is known to hold the medicinal benefits.
It’s also legal just about everywhere nowadays and easily accessible which is why it’s become so popular in holistic medicine.
Your body naturally produces cannabinoids on its own which are CB1 & CB2 receptors that act on the brain & immune system. I’m going to keep this post pretty lite, so if you want to read more on how the body produces cannabinoids, this is a great article I found online!
What are the benefits of CBD?
There have been many studies backing CBD and its medicinal properties and I’ve rounded up the top 7 most common benefits! Here is an article explaining more in-depth how and why CBD could be the solution to these common problems.

Why I use it.
There are two common ways to add CBD to your life, orally or topically, and I’ve found that I feel its effects more when adding it to my meals. One brand in particular I’m a huge fan of (not just because it’s family owned) is Restart CBD. This brand in particular is made of 99% Organic CBD and MCT oil. Yep, that’s IT! I don’t know a whole lot about the marijuana or CBD industry but I do know that there are different qualities and grades to what is on the market. The ones from Restart CBD don’t leave a funky aftertaste and even carry different doses geared towards every part of your day from the moment you wake up to when you lay your head down on your pillow. My personal favorite is taking their RECOVER dose post workout which helps to, well, recover my muscles!
I’m someone who doesn’t really use supplements and am a firm believer in food/nature being the first step in the healing process. When I eat certain foods or use different products on my skin, I can tell whether it’s gonna work for me. It’s so important to be mindful of your body and aware of what goes on when you introduce something new.
