This morning we venture over to Ride Indoor Cycling on the corner of Lavaca and 2nd street. It’s one of the most talked about cycling studios in Austin, because of its high intensity, high adrenaline pumping workouts! They hold classes that are 45 minutes long and incorporate sprint intervals, climbs, pushups, tap backs, crunches, hand weights, and whatever crazy moves they decide to throw at you. When you take one of their classes, you’re getting not just a cardio session, but a total body workout and having fun while doing it!
The facility keeps their focus on you and the ride with just one studio filled with 36 top-of-the-line Schwinn AC performance bikes and one amazing instructor that inspires you to push yourself past what you think you can do. Ride also offers shoe rentals for a whopping $1, showers, lockers, and a water fountain for your convenience.
The vibe of each class solely depends on the instructor and the type of music they play. Each instructor is different but all have equally killer playlists. They dim the room except for a blue flourescent light, and it doesn’t seem like a huge deal, but that kind of lighting really makes a difference in the way I and many others in the class perform. The mood it puts you in is one that makes you just want to get after it and give it all you got for that 45 minutes.
My instructor for this class, Christy, was so cool. She played heart pumping music that was challenging, but not impossible to keep the beat with and really pushed us to fight off that Monday morning blues. She incorporated out-of-the-saddle pushes and climbs to engage our booties (which we all love to focus on), and small hand weights for a portion of the class to get some bicep, tricep, and shoulder work in! Again, this was a total body workout and people of all different fitness backgrounds and ages are encouraged to come try them out, since it is easy on the joints and you always have the option to go at your own pace.
I definitely broke a sweat (or two) and will be coming back for more!
If y’all have been here before, let me know! I would love to hear feedback on which instructors y’all like (or don’t like) and your overall experience.
