FIT Austin, located on South Lamar, differs from many studios across Austin in more ways than one. Firstly, they are one of the few studios in Austin that offers full TRX based classes. They also offer personal training, HIIT workouts, as well as Circuit training.
I used to go to a TRX class pretty regularly back when I was in High School, and I remembered just loving the concept and how you use your body weight to determine how hard or easy you can make each exercise. Being able to go to a class that is based on the TRX fundamentals is fantastic in my eyes. Not a lot of studios offer that, and FIT Austin does a great job at utilizing the equipment to its full ability!
In this class, we did a circuit type class, where we would perform an exercise on the TRX band and then switch over to a sandbag exercise. For instance, we would do say 45 seconds of rows, take a 10-20 second break, then do squat with overhead throws using a sandbag for another 30-45 seconds. Then we would repeat that once more and move onto a new set of exercises.
I really enjoyed FIT Austin, not only because the class made me sore and I got in an AWESOME workout, but the trainer and the people who were in my class were all smiling, laughing, and having a great time! Since a TRX band uses body weight to perform an exercise, you are able to modify how “heavy” you go on each and that helps you build stronger, leaner muscles. I’m not really one to love lifting heavy weights, so this class was a great way for me to incorporate strength training and building muscle without feeling bulky.
The trainer was also extremely helpful and knowledgable about how to perform each exercise properly and was encouraging us the entire time. If we were off by even 1 inch, he would come over and make the correction. Not only does that help with utilizing the proper muscle groups, but it helps to keep your joints safe and protect us from injury. And the last thing I would ever want is to be injured and not be able to workout! That would be a horrible nightmare.
I live in Cedar Park, so it was somewhat of a trek to get here, but it was TOTALLY worth it! I definitely recommend heading out there and trying out a class for yourself! It’s a fun place to go to and just get in a solid workout! They offer a variety of classes, so go check out their website and see which one appeals to you the most! You really can’t go wrong with any of them.
