If you’re looking for a seriously challenging class, then MOD Fitness barre is the class for you! With locations on South Lamar and Burnet Road, it’s easy to take time out of your busy schedule and make one of their barre classes! They also offer various times throughout the day, as well as 45-60 minute classes.
MOD barre is one of my favorite workouts in Austin. It is a quaint little studio/boutique that makes you feel right at home. Now, I do a lot of different types of workouts such as boxing, running, cycling, Tabata, and more, but nothing quite gets my muscles firing the way barre does. Although I think I’m in pretty good shape, endurance and cardiovascular wise, I get my butt kicked whenever I attend one of these classes. The fact is that barre is a very precise movement that ultimately focuses on toning those hard to reach places as well as major muscle groups. The movements are extremely technique-based and focus on form and position as opposed to how many reps can you do in a minute. These precise movements get every single muscle firing, by the end of a round/exercise I’m shaking!
I took the 60 minute class this time, and we hit all of our major muscle groups including the shoulders, triceps, biceps, back, quads, hamstrings, glutes, inner thighs and abs. It sounds like a lot to cover in just one hour, but the exercises are so precise and rely on technique, that even doing an exercise for 20 seconds you’re already feeling a deep burn in that muscle!
MOD is such a fun place, and I love the instructors that work there! They’re so helpful and make the most out of every workout. They don’t just tell you what to do, but they come over and correct your form if you’re not doing something properly or they just want you to maybe lift your leg higher or sink into a squat deeper. You’re there to get in a great workout and ultimately change your body. MOD helps you to create muscle tone that you didn’t even think was possible, and create just an overall stronger and healthier body for you to live in!
Try one of their classes and I can guarantee you that you’ll be hooked. If you had an area of focus that was maybe your weakest or that you just couldn’t tone, MOD helps to build up strength and make it one of your strongest. You’ll be amazed at the results that come from barre.
